RólamLove books and reading and learning about new places, people and things. I enjoy classical music, also jazz and some contemporary.
A könyvtáramrólMy collectible library began with vintage classics that originally belonged to and were read by my mother when she was growing up. I've added my own titles as I've read them over the years. My nonfiction books reflect my various special interests and also serve as mementos of places I've lived or visited.

Quick question - right now my wife is blasting through Dana Stabenow's "Kate Shugak" series and I'm looking for something similar to follow up with - any suggestions?

I just wanted to say thanks for commenting on my post about reading authors in publication order. I've actually found with the two mystery series I've ready - The Spenser books by Robert B. Parker, and The Brother Cadfael mysteries by Ellis Peters, reading them in order made a HUGE difference as they often refer back to previous books and sometimes even use previous villains, locations, etc.
Currently, what is your favourite mystery series?

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries connections. I see we're both members of 50-Somethingers, historical fiction and crime... too. I thought your name sounded familiar. I also see we really have 71 books in common -- Anne Perry being the biggie. You know I've read every Pitt book and am saving Monk, don't ask me why, just incase I run out of neo-Victorian mysteries I guess!
Regards,
Dayna

Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries! How very special to be noticed by the books that you read. You have quite an impressive library. I must write down some of the titles because they look very interesting, and I have not read them. I am impressed that you read "....And Ladies of the Club." In my own circle of local book friends, only one has read that book.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Now, I am going to write down some titles!
All the very best,
Irene

I have fond memories of the Route 66 TV series too. With the recent death of Gail Storm, I was reminded how much I also loved "My Little Margie". Growing up in the mid- west, the idea of living in NYC seemed ever so glamorous. It's probably why, in part, I eventually wound up on the east coast.

I am honored that you have added my library to your list of interesting libraries. What, in particular, have you found interesting in my lbrary? It looks like you love to cook and bake. Are you also an active quilter?

Thanks for making my library an interesting library. I'm very flattered. (Sorry to be so long in getting back to you).
I see you've just rated Hearts and Hands: The Influence of Women and Quilts on American Society. Are you a quilter?
I also see we're both in What are You Reading Now?, so I'm sure I'll see you around.

Many thanks for adding me to your list of Interesting Libraries.
It was kind of you to bring the John Dunning series to my attention, albeit if you go through my library (no easy matter as I well know) you will see that I have them listed and in fact like the series very much.
The link to his site is useful however,so thanks for that.
Anyway it is great of you to get in touch.
All the best from the English Midlands.

I'm flattered that you've marked my library 'interesting'. You obviously like England, did you live here for long? I went to school in Salisbury, and spent a lot of time in the Cathedral and at Old Sarum. I even went to Stonehenge before they fenced it off - an experience I treasure.
Have you come across Rebecca's Tale by Sally Beaumont? I found it an excellent complement to Rebecca.
Best wishes,
G

Have you read Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron (http://www.librarything.com/work/6829415...)? It is such a heart-warming book about a kitten that was dumped in a book drop at the Spencer Public Library in Spencer, Iowa and lived in the library for 19 years.
I live in Grinnell, Iowa so it really touches home for me.
Enjoy!

Thanks for visiting my library--I'm glad you liked it! My cat picture is Scamper, and I had to say goodbye to her just a few weeks ago. I'm glad you got to see her, I've been thinking of changing my picture, because it almost makes me cry everytime I see it:( She was my reading and writing companion, often from her perch atop that wall.
I find your library very interesting also, and have added a few of your titles to my wish list. Love Among the Butterflies looks especially good...

We have more in common than books. I notice that you are from McKinney. I grew up in Plano. I haven't lived there since the 70s and my parents left there in the late 80s after retiring and moving to another part of Texas. All of my family is in Texas, so I make it back once or twice a year. I was just there this past August. Can't stay away from that Texas heat! Please keep in touch.

I notice Louisa May Alcott on your list. She and I share a birthday, though I am a bit younger!! I have also read all the L. M. Montgomery books, though they are not as yet in my library - but thanks for reminding me that they should get there. My daughter loved the miniseries of Anne of Green Gables and we boought the whole set. I finished them; I am not sure she did.
Enjoy the library.

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries list. I've added you too. I've been having terrible trouble with my internet connection recently, so although I've read a lot more books of late, it's been very frustrating not being able to get on Librarything to see what other people are saying!

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries list, I shall return the compliment, and come back to your profile to check out your books. Looks like you like cats, too?
I must agree with Booksloth's comment previously, about being able to buy books faster than read them!! There are some I bought over ten years ago, and still haven't read. Ridiculous! Oh well, at least it means there's always delight in store...
Cheers

Thank you for adding my library to your interesting list, I see you are a fan of the Bronte's. While I love Jane Eyre, I think The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read. Have you read it and what did you think of it?

I like what you said about rediscovering your books as you list them on LT. I found just the same - ended up with a massive pile of 'I really must read these again'. I never did get round to rereading many of them as I can buy so much faster than I can read, and there will never be enough time in the world for me to read even a tiny fraction of the books I want to read. I have made a vow lately to do at least one reread every month, and I've managed to stick with it so far.
