RólamI am a confessed biblioholic and work in a high school library. I read a lot of YA fiction, as well as fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, and nonfiction.
A könyvtáramrólMy library is dominated by books on some of my favorite topics, especially horse racing and Yosemite National Park (and the entire Sierra Nevada). I tend to buy more nonfiction than fiction. I've also listed books that I've read but don't own (since I tend to borrow fiction from work or the public library).

Thank you very much for your review of my debut novel, WIFE OF THE GODS. I wanted you to know that I appreciate it and don't take it for granted one bit. Thank goodness for book lovers like you! I notice you're in Ontario, CA, so I hope you'll be able to attend one of my book signings in the Los Angeles area. The dates and venues are on my website http://www.kweiquartey.com.

I'm about to send you your copy of Finding Creatures & Other Stories, by C. June Wolf. However, I just noticed that your *town* is missing from the address. Can you send me a comment on LibraryThing or email me at ?
Many thanks!

Do you use your library for reader's advisory much? I've been finding that I remember the titles and authors much better when I've reviewed them, or I can quickly refresh my memory if someone asks about a particular title. For the YA, especially, reviewing them really sticks them in my mind better. I do selection for the J&Y collection here, which is part of the reason I have so many YA titles -- they just look too good to resist when they come in, plus LT is a wonderful review source.
I'm with you on using the public library more. I have to admit, I don't visit it near as much as I used to before being in a library all day. As an academic library with a small budget we don't spend as much on the popular fiction sorts of titles. Which I suppose means I should read more non-fiction. I'll have to check out some of your recommended titles :-)

I LOVE E. Nesbit and have never even met anyone else who has heard of her books (except the Railway Children). I think I read ~all~ of her books on the Bastables, etc. Wonderful and magical.
I was also a Yosemite Seasonal Park Ranger for 10 years, so I have quite the Yosemite collection as well!
Are you, by chance, a Nerdfighter? There are lots of librarians on there - we started as fans of Brotherhood 2.0 (which is wonderful, and I see you have Looking for Alaska by John Green in your library, and he is one of the brothers!) It has become a wonderful community of folks that love to read, share ideas, and aren't afraid to show "nerd pride"! So, if you don't know about them already, you should definitely check them out - http://www.brotherhood2.com/index.php is the original website, and has links to the new Ning community, and we have a group here on LT, now, too.
Well, I will be checking your library for ideas!
