Rólam "Libraries are reservoirs of strength, grace and wit, reminders of order, calm and continuity, lakes of mental energy, neither warm nor cold, light nor dark. The pleasure they give is steady, unorgastic, reliable, deep and long-lasting. In any library in the world, I am at home, unselfconscious, still and absorbed." Germaine Greer.

I own all of the books and sound recordings I have registered here. If you called at my home I could lend you one or other of these books (but probably wouldn't, I would just tantalise you by showing you a copy and then refuse to let you take it away). Such are the riches of experience - of losing many books through reckless lending. Now I trust very few with my books. Scrooge, you know, had a point!

Thanks for the invite! I will have a look. You have quite an impressive library here, it seems we have a lot of the classics in common.
Many thanks for the invite (which I have accepted). I haven't listened to Radio 3 before, but, living in the depths of rural New Zealand Zealand, think it would prove very interesting. I am busy cataloguing my music recordings onto LT and have around 500 to go. Thanks again.
David Shead
Some fine reviews you have: Middlemarch, Small Island, and To the Lighthouse, as well as other classics.
Thank you.
Eugenia
Sorry I never replied to the invite, Thanks for that by the way. I haven't updated my library in a while but... just Thanks.
Thank you for the invitation to the Radio 3 Group. I am happy to accept.
Have you any opinion on the 'Maestro' series? (Sorry, I know it's television, but it is related - sort of).
Thank you for the invitation to BBC Radio 3. I am pleased to accept, although I may do little but lurk. I am listening to Radio 3 at the moment and sound pretty good on the rather limited speakers of the laptop I am using. Living in the Washington-Baltimore area I am fortunate to have access to WETA also online), a PBS station dedicated to classical music and on trips to Baltimore I can receive a good classical station from there. The West Virginia PBS station often has good classical programs. I suspect I will have Radio 3 on while browsing through Librarything.

I note we have some books in common; you have a large collection of children's books. which comprise a good part of my collection.
Thank you for inviting me to join the BBC3 group. I've given your library a cursive glance and it is impressive if not a bit overwhelming. I'm going to enjoy a leisurely browse later. It appears there is much in common and much to be learned.
Thank you for the invitation to the Radio 3 group!
Thanks for the invitation. It's been a long time since I listened to Radio 3 so I'll have to check this out.
Thank you. Will have a look and explore. Just new to this library thing and thoroughly enjoying entering all the books I've read and discovering authors that have written further books since I last looked at them.
Here I thought I was special, you say those things to everyone...JOKE, HA-HA, CHUCKLE-CHUCKLE. A feeble attempt at humor. Antimuzak, good to hear from you. Thank you for turning me on to BBC3 book/music Group. Am in the process of checking it out. Since I am a Hillbilly from Arkansas, about all I listen to is NPR - PBS. So look forward to listening to what's happening in the UK. Later...
Thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 group. I enjoy programs like Crunluath and Pipeline as well, so I look forward to exploring BBC Radio 3!
'Yes' my friend said. 'I don't see why there shouldn't be books in Heaven. But you will find that your library in Heaven contains only some of the books you had on earth.' 'Which?' I asked. 'The ones you gave away or lent.' 'I hope the lent ones won't still have the borrowers' dirty thumb marks,' said I. 'Oh yes they will' said he. 'But just as the wounds of the martyrs have turned into beauties, so will you find that the thumbmarks have turned into beautiful illuminated capitals or exquisite marginal woodcuts

C.S. Lewis
My thanks for your kind invitation; I look forward to exploring this station (and the group).
I find it interesting that as I type in my orchestral recordings on vinyl, I'm starting to match up to the same recordings in your library. I didn't think anyone else was being exact in their cataloging. You must have a good collection of out-of-print music. It looks like a have a lifetime of music hunting to look forward to, now that people are dumping their vinyl collection into the thrift stores. I'll have to browse your library and see what's out there.
Thanks for invite. I'll do a little lurking and see what's going on there. It looks interesting!
Thank you for the invitation and I applaud your efforts. Classical music programs on American Public Radio used to run around the clock with the exception of morning and evening news reports. Now there is one late night music program left on one out of three area stations. The rest is news and talk and interviews; interesting stuff in small doses but troubling to the spirit when never-ending. Best of luck.
Many thanks for your invitation. I've joined and left my first message.
Thanks for the invitation. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have realized it is possible to catalog music recordings as well.
Thank you very much for inviting me to this group. I've never listened to BBC 3 before but after looking at the Web site it seems perfect.

Roberta
Thanks! for the invitation.
I've never listened to BBC Radio 3, so I couldn't qualify as a 'listener.'
I 'do' listen to CBC Radio 2.
However, as they are supposedly further diminishing their classical content to a period of 10AM to 3PM in the near future, I may have to look for an alternative.
Is BBC Radio 3easily accessible?

Witsius
Hi antimuzak, thanks for your invitation. I usually listen tot Radio 4 (Dutch) because I love classical music. I like your nickname and I fully approve of it. Today I'll try to find BBC3 on my cable.
Thanks again,
lozwen
The best definition of man is: a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful
Thank you for pointing me to BBC3; I've been listening all day. I really appreciate your passion for classical music and for doing all you can to preserve and promote this resource. Here in the USA I fear for our own NPR and PBS.

Best regards,
Cheryl
Many thanks for inviting me to the BBC3 music group. I had no idea that such a resource was available to me online and I look forward to listening and participating in the group when possible. Unfortunately, I have a busy job and a young family, but I get a great deal out of lurking in the background and admiring the insights of others. Your library and music collection is truly astonishing.

Best regards,
Joe
Thank you for inviting me to the BBC group. I have never listened to it but after going through your music collection I had no hesitation!
BTW, what do you think of CSO's (my secondary employer) decision to hire Ricardo Muti?
Hi there! Just wanted to thank you for your very kind invitation to the Radio 3 group. I'm afraid I'm usually too busy reading to listen to the radio and, when I do it tends to be either 2 or 4 but I've had a quick look at some of the topics the group is discussing and it all looks very interesting so I may try and drop by now and then. I've also taken the opportunity to add your library to my 'interestings' - we certainly share quite a few, don't we?
Best wishes
Byron - He die in 1824 - but I'd love to hear your conspiracy theory!

Peter
Hello antimuzak! I hope you don't mind me adding your library to my "Interesting libraries" list (at long last). I'm realising that besides helping me remember what I've read, this feature may help me identify even more interesting books that I won't have time to read!

Thanks as well for having created the R3 group. I listened to Sunday's Private Passions (Colin Low), a show I rarely catch, yesterday at work and it was just superb. I haven't stopped listening to the Godowsky studies since then and I must get hold of some of the less well-known English songs. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 listeners group, and for introducing me to BBC3!
Thanks for the invitation - I haven't listened to BBC3 before, I live in Budapest, Hungary. But I promise, I will check it out on the internet. :o)
Hello fellow of the beautiful north and music lover - I am very impressed by your library. Do you every make use of the Lit and Phil? I have only visited the place once and that was a while ago now.
Many thanks for the kind invitation (to R3 listeners) - I think my response has to be on similar lines to Silvercowrie, but would love to join.

Fabulous library, and I note we share 114 books.

I know what you mean about lending books; I have done so a few times and regretted it as I never saw them again.

:-)
Thanks for inviting me over to BBC Radio 3 listeners. My radio home is really Radio 4 but I do tune into R3 for world music and occasionally classical.
Hey there,

You must be such an interesting person to have a chat with. How do you manage to find the time to read all these books?

I really hope to speak to you soon.

Best of luck,
Nataly
Thanks for the invite. I do happen to like classical music, well actually I like Baroque and Early Music, but close enough. I'll have to listen to BBC 3 online from now on.
Thank you for inviting me to the BBC3 group - and allowing me to learn from your joy in classical music. Have you listened to Ann-Sophie Mutter's recent release of Mozart ? Beautiful !
Thank you so much for your kind suggestion. I will investigate a way to listen to BBC 3. I love all music especially that of the Romantic composers. So, I thank you in advance for all the music I will hear ( through my computer) I am delighted that you have such an extensive library. Long may you enjoy it!

antimuzak, i'm currently reading The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman you were talking about! i didn't realize it was the book you had recommended until i came back to read this thread/conversation! THANKS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION, it's a really well written and enjoyable book!
Antimuzak, thanks for the invitation. I have often listened to the BBC, but it has been awhile. I'm looking forward to renewing the experience.
Antimuzak, thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 group, I love classical music, I'll try to listen the radio at home via the internet
Thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 group.
Thank you very much for the invitation. Still in the process of entering all of my books. I am astounded by your collection.
Thanks for the invite :)
Thank you for your kind invitation. Your library is very impressive! I am slowly finding my way around the Librarything site, so it may take me a while to get up to speed.
Thank you for the invitation to the bbc radio 3,antimuzak!! I´ve already joint and i´m sure i´ll enjoy it.I´m from Argentina so i have to listen to it through the net. Sorry for my English, it´s not too good isnt it?
By the way, you have a really admirable library. I´m jealous!!

SARAH
Thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 Listeners Group, sorry it took so long for me to answer, I'm still groping in the dark here.
You have an amazing library, by the way.
Cheers for the invite. I will certainly have a look. I've just joined and begun to catalogue my books and am having a blast.
Wow, thank you so much for the invitation. How did you know? I love this new resource. Again thanks, I love it.
Patricia
Thanks for the invite to the R3 Listeners. I am indeed an R3 fan, and have been watching the group. Sadly, I rarely get the chance to listen much nowadays, or at least not at the times I would like to, so mostly listen to CDs instead.
Thanks for the BBC Radio 3 Listeners group invite. I will give it a try.
Thanks for inviting me to the BBC Radio 3 Listeners Group, I'm not quite sure what it is yet but it looks interesting. I look forward to looking around and trying to get involved. I don't live in the UK, or anywhere near it, so it'll probably be kind of hard for me to get the radio station. I don't know if my school computer will be able to handle it.

Thanks!

Jenny

p.s. Wow, you've read a lot of books in your time, I wish I had those numbers under my belt. :) Books are like dreams, when you're in them you aren't sure if its real or not till you're at the end. Hopefully one of these days I'll find myself along that road, I'm a slow reader but I love doing it!
Thanks for inviting me to the BBC Radio 3 Listeners Group - I'm intrigued to know why you thought this would be of interest to me as I have only catalogued my books and not the 2,000 or so CDs that I own! As about 700 are classical I feel you may be somewhat psychic. I do listen now and again but sometimes feel it's a bit on the heavy side for me but perhaps it's now time to give it another chance?

Regards
Thanks, antimuzak for the invitation to the BBC 3 group. Much appreciated. Your library is amazing - hopefully we can trade knowledge sometime - assuming I have any to offer.

~Bill Barclay (barclayb)
What a wonderful library, antimuzak. I've been browsing your Biographies looking for a Schubert bio. I see you have many of course. Would you be able to recommend one or two for the "layperson". I enjoy works which put the subject into the context of his or her times - what else was going on in their country during their lifetime, perhaps some minutiae of every-day, domestic life, etc. I am not a musicologist, just a lover of music. I hope asking this is not presuming too much.

Also I see you are a BBC 3 enthusiast. You might be interested in having a look at 2mbs.com which is a Sydney, volunteer run, FM station with some excellent programming.
Thanks for the invitation - I was not familiar with BBC Radio 3 and it seems very enticing.
Dear antimuzak
Thanks a lot for inviting me. I will join.

I am sorry to hear that the BBC 3 too is threathened. Our "Danmarks Radio" (http://www.dr.dk/) is suffering severe cuts at the moment too. They have to pay for the political decision to build a grand new Radio House by cutting down lots of interesting programs, the cuts being in sad keeping with the already prevailing tendency to cut programme that lasts more than 30 minutes, especially when it is a spoken word programme without music. There is today hardly a programme without annoying "jingles" (the muzak of serious radio).

I was interested and impressed to look at your library. I have added your library to my interesting libraries. I only started cataloguing our book collection about two months ago but I can see that we already share 49 of our (at present 1220) books with you!
Yours
kaatmann
Thanks for the invite; I will check it out. I love classical music.

I am jealous of the vast amount of wonderful books you own.

I was reading the info on your profile page. I only catalog the books I own as well. I have many more that are not cataloged, but hopefully will be someday.

Thanks again for the invite.
Thanks for inviting me! I can't get BBC radio where I am, but I'm a frequent caller at the website. I can't believe how many books you own. Amazing!
That sounds like an awesome group, thanks :) (have to agree with them about the way this world has dumbed down overtime, lol)
Dear Antimuzak
Many thanks for inviting me to the R3 listeners group. I am really interested since I am a great fun of classical music.

Best wishes and thanks for the thought.
Thank you for the invitation to join BBC3 listeners.
I actually haven't listened to the radio in a long time, opting instead to use my ipod but I remain faithful to their line-up.
BBC3 has been one of the only things my dad and I can agree on when he gets into the car.
Dear Antimuzak,
Thank you for your invitation to join the BBC3 Listeners group. To be honest: the last years I hardly listen to BBC3 anymore. This is because in Paris I cannot receive the channel on the waves - and I am very oldfashioned and donot listen to music on my computer (nor do I download movies). I must be one of those fossiles who still don't have ADSL...
But in the '70s and '80s I was unconditionally faithful to BBC3. I can even say BBC3 has been one of the great experiences of my life. Even now I remember (30 years afterwards!)some names of the BBC team: Patricia Hughes, Victor Hallam,....
So to conjure my regrets, and to express symbolically my admiration I have immediately registered upon your invitation.
By the way: I adore many forms of music (being also antimuzak!). But I have decided not to include music recordings (or scores) in my LT catalogue. It will be big enough with books alone.
Sincerely,
Jan Willem
Hello, Thank you for the invitation. I don't know much about this radio but it could be a good way to improve my (poor) english. Anyway, what a grat library you have.
Thanks for inviting me to BBC3.
Thanks, antimuzak, very much for the invitation to join your BBC3 group. Many years back, when living in the UK, I was a regular listener to BBC3. Glad to have the opportunity to join in again.
Thank you Antimuzik, for the invite. I'm a bit new to this radio via computer listening, but love the BBC. I'm always happy to learn of options beyong the pop culture. It's also great to hear the voices of those in other countries! Thanks for reaching out.
Hi antimuzik, sorry it took me so long to respond. I hadn't visited my profile page in while... but thank you for inviting me. I look forward to tuning in.
It's nice to meet you! I look forward to exploring your books.
Hi antimuzak, Many thanks for inviting me to the group. I just tried listening to radio3 through this computer and it worked! I got quite a thrill (given that I am in the US). I'm not a huge music listener, but I see that they broadcast theater - totally up my alley! In fact British dramas (and audiobooks) are among my favorites. Take care...and I accept! - Audrey in NY P.S. Totally impressed that you actually own your entire library. Must be lovely to be surrounded by all of them!
Thank you for inviting me!
Than you for the invitation to BBC Radio 3 Anitmusic! Coolmama
Good Sunday morning,

Thanks for joining the Gregorian Chant Group. There's a message for you on the group topic page about a relevant event I'll be attending in Westminster Cathedral on Nov. 17th.

Bon Dimanche,

Jane
Dear Antimuzak, have just created a group for lovers of Plainchant, Renaissance Polyphony and traditional church music. Will you join so that I don't feel too lonely! I know you're very busy with Radio 3 so I wouldn't expect you to contribute often. However, I'll be posting things on 'Gregorian Group' that I'm sure (having read some of your postings) will interest you.

Cheers,
A bientot,
Jane
Hello again Antimuzak,
Thanks for your kind welcome. By all means post away. You can always do that unless I indicate otherwise. Still busy logging my library so little time for visiting group pages. Should be through before the end of next month. Have to spend the first half of Nov. in UK during which I will suffer terribly from librarything withdrawal symptoms. At least R3 will be on tap, wonderful music at Westminster Cathedral and will also see the new production of 'Shadowlands'in the West End.

Must tell you about France Musique which is the equivalent of R3 here. Sometimes it's stunningly better and sometimes stunningly worse but on the whole across any one week has the same depth and versatility. Also very good for the French musical vocab. Will report the next wonderful thing I hear and the worst. The French presenters sometimes have difficulty with the names of British and American musicians and one has to have one's ears peeled if one wants to know who's performing. Who is Sclon Da Vees for instance? That being said he's very popular here because of his devotion to Berlioz. And what about Le Narde Slat Keen and Sharle Mucker- Ass?

All best to you and the group for now. Will contact again soon,
Jane
Thanks for the invite. I'm sure I will enjoy.
Thank you for your invitation to join the Radio 3 group. Until June it was one of three things I miss about UK, one of the others being good strong Cheddar cheese. But a new epicerie has recently opened in our tiny village here in France Profonde and mirabile dictu, Monsieur Joachim gets huge blocks for me farm produced in England. All the local supermarket has (8 kms away) is spongy Double Gloucester masquerading as Cheddar. The French Buyer doesn't know the difference! The French generally think they are the only nation who can make cheese.I'm working on Monsieur for a supply of smoked back bacon and then when I've had my satellite dish fixed I'll be able to access R3 through my digibox and make more relevant postings to the group rather than going on about cheese!

An early and treasured memory of R3 when it was still The Third Programme is the series 'Talking About Music' with Anthony Hopkins. Billiant and so educative in an absorbing entertaining way. It would be wonderful to hear them again. They must still be in the Archives.(What happened to him? Does anyone know whether he's still alive?) Years ago my husband was in one of our local pubs in London when an extremely beautiful Brazilian girl came in asking if anyone knew where Anthony Hopkins lived. At the time the actor Anthony Hopkins was still living with his first wife in the street round the corner and my husband assumed she meant him. However, to his astonishment it transpired she was after the music AH, of whom nobody else in the pub had ever heard.
Thanks again, Jane
Hi Antimuzak, thanks for the invitation. I love BBC 3 and have read many of the threads. Unfortunately, when ever I try to listen to Radio 3 on my mac, it never works! I don't know, I maybe don't have the right player or something. I usually give up in frustration and put on a CD!
any advice you can give to help me listen in more often would be great!

BBC radio 3 is just about the only thing I miss about the UK! (and the National Portrait Gallery).
I really like your tag name, BTW. Muzak is EVERYWHERE in Taiwan where I live and it drives me crazy! Why cant' they play Bach at the gym, in the elavator etc?
lol
Best wishes Tomcatmurr.
Thanks very much for the invitation to BBC3. I did join the group a while back and it's interesting but I really just want to talk about books on here. Music is my job and books are my hobby. Thanks again.
Amanda
Yes the painting is an Atkinson Grimshaw. He has an uncanny knack for capturing the Yorkshire light! Keep up the good work! Chris
Thanks for the invite - my apologies for the delay in responding.
Thanks for the info about the BBC....I am listening to BBC right now. Mike
Thank You for the Invite!
Dear antimuzak, many thanks (only 4 months later!) for the invitation - I did join immediately. I get to listen to BBC R3 & R4 regularly over the Internet, though it requires perseverance after our national telecom company got renationalised. On irregular visits to the UK I am always impressed just how fortunate UK residents are to have the BBC (I'm thinking radio and Internet rather than TV as I don't watch it, though I know the BBC Natural History Unit is still something to be proud of) instead of the garbage we largely have to depend on in this part of the world. Indeed, sindicated BBC news has become one of the best ways for residents here to get unbiased news. Let's hope the UK government will some day wake up to the fact that a commitment to maintaining (and improving, why not?) the BBC would be a better investment than any of the alternatives. The BBC is clearly a very cost effective way of educating and informing and, as they say, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." Thanks again! Chris
William Golding, Ivy Compton-Burnett, Angela Carter... what a lot of interests we seem to have in common. I've only just started uploading, but I'll get more done in the long winter evenings, perhaps.
Thank you, I've accepted your invitation. I listen to R3 on the computer in Hungary quite frequently, unless there's something more exciting on our Radio Bartok.
good man! "no" to intrusive movie-makers, "no" to lending and "no to listing books you don't actually own. You are all right in my book! (though I can't imagine putting the music on here - there must be a better way) At any rate, keep up the good work
Hello,

We have quite a few books & things in common.
I also do not list it unless I own it, & have learned all too well the lesson not to loan books.(Have you ever noticed that it is the people that say they would NEVER dream of keeping one, that do not return them?)
I lost a precious copy of Dickens that way.
Thanks for the invitation. I have never actually listened to BBC radio though. I do concur heartily on your stance toward book lending. I absolutely refuse to lend books even to my children. They never return. I have replaced some books six and seven times and I refuse to do it again. The prices are always higher the next time. I too own all the books I have listed but will never manage to amass as many as you.
Thanks for the invitation. I'm enjoying Radio 3 very much.
Unlike some members of LibraryThing I actually own all of the books and sound recordings I have registered here.

((wryly)) That's v refreshing. So do I (I own my books I mean, obviously not yours). I hate lending out books as well -- I'm notorious for not doing it v often.
Thanks for the invite! I love BBC3 and stream it on my computer a lot.
Thanks for the info. I see you use LvB's portrait as your avatar. My dad had a line drawing of a similar portrait hanging over his fireplace. Beethoven "got him through The Great Depression." Best wishes, Ron Pavellas
Hey thank you! Sounds like a pretty interesting group.
thanks for the invitation, the BBC group looks quite interesting.
Thank you for the invitation...I'm not sure how to use all this site yet, but I'll figure it out. :-)
Thanks for the invitation. Just in time for the PROMS!
Thanks for the invitation. I did join and will be listening through their website.
Thank you so much for the invitation to the BBC3 radio group! I only just discovered it, it's been a while since I logged in...oops. But thank you! :-)

Kristien
Thank-you for the heads-up on the BBC group. I look forward to trawling the postings and reveling in the music.
Thank you for the invite....I've joined and look forward to the discussions.
Thank you for the invitation. From the description you've provided about Radio 3 it sounds like something I'll enjoy very much.
Thanks for the invite. Am a regular Radio 3 listener.
Much obliged.
I too own all my books, and have yet to put half of them on here.
Thank you so much for the invite, looking forward to it.
Thank you for the invite :)
Count me in!
Have just (finally!) acquired broadband, so can listen to Radio 3 (and my traditional favourite, Radio 4) again whenever I choose, yippee!
Thanks for the invite - looking forward to diving into the blogs, not to mention the airwaves...
All the best, Carolyn
~Thank you for the invitation to the BBC Radio 3 Listeners group ...and although this is new for me..will no doubt learn my way around the block...so,my sincere thank you!
As I fall in line with the myriad of readers before me, thank you for the invite. :)
Thank you for the invitation. I am, as of yet, not a BBC Radio 3 listener. But that can change. I like your choice of books (as far as I can tell, which is not very far). The authors as well as the multitude!
Thanks for the invitation to the Radio 3 group. I listen to BBC mainly via podcasts, and those are mostly from Radio 4. I will have to see what options are available for Radio 3 and maybe I'll join the group when I have something to talk about. ;)
Thank you for the invitation. I currently only have internet access at work, and our bandwidth Nazi frowns on streaming goodies, so I will have to check things out at a later date...
Thanks for the invitation! I listen quite a lot but not as often as I mean to; maybe joining will remind me to turn the dial away from Radio 4 burbling in the background.

I had noticed that there is a Radio 3 group, and sometime over last weekend I told my son someone in the group was bound to know about some piece of music he was asking me about. Now, if only I can remember what it was he wanted to know...
Thanks for inviting me to your group!
Thank you for the invitation! I recently read Stephen Fry´s humorous take on the history of classical music - evidently taken from a series on BBC3 - so that´s how I knew about that radio channel! I´m in Sweden, by the way. I love classical music and I once had serious plans of becoming an opera-singer myself, so this is right up my alley!

I agree with what you wrote about it "being an oasis of intelligence and real culture in an increasingly dumbed down world" because it´s so sad to see what kind of "music" and performers are being popular these days.....Britney Spears, anyone?!
Thanks for the invitation
Four and a half month, and I'm catching up on things. Finally replying to your invitation to BBC3 listeners for example. ;)
Listening to *any* radio is something I don't do very much anymore, but if I join maybe I can become inspired to do it more, so I'll say 'yes, thanks!' :)
Hi, thanks for inviting me to the BBC group. I do sometimes listen to the Beeb online, but not a lot, so for the moment I won't join. But I'll keep your post, just in case... ;)
Cath
Thanks antimuzak. I'll be glad to join the group as I do listen to Radio 3 here in Spain through the PC when I have the time. Now....to find out what it means to be in the group and read some posts.

Hasta la proxima.
Arco-Iris.
Many thanks for the invite to join the BBC Radio 3 Listeners Group, which I have just done. One of the better stations on air at the moment I must say.
Thanks for the invite. I must confess I haven't listened to Radio 3 very much but having read the group info I am very keen to check it out. The only problem is I have a digital radio and don't know how to tune it. What can I say I am a technophobe!

You have a very interesting site, we have quite a few books in common especially considering I don't have many in my library yet.

Have you really written all those reviews yourself! (I'm trying to think of a witty comment that you must be a prolific writer or really old or really sad but it all sounds a bit insulting sorry).

I am with you about the lending friends books theory, there seems to be an unwritten law somewhere which makes people assume if you lend them a book they do not have to give it back. I am always very careful now not to lend out my favourite books as they are like old friends to me and I want to see them again.

Best Regards
Thanks for the invite.
Thank you for the invitation to this group. We seem to have a few interesting books in common as well.
Thanks so much for your invitation! I've joined this morning. (I'm in the classical music field myself, so this is the perfect first group for me!)

Cheers!
Thanks, I'll look into it, I spend most of my time listening to the London Classical Internet Radio. I have only recently regained the sound capability on my CPU. :)
thank you for the invitation. This morning it's working! I heard Welsh and a Welsh choir.

Lascaux
Thank you for contributing a review on And I Mean It Stanley. It put a large, genuine smile on my face.
Thank you so much for the invite. I've only just start to take advantage of listening to the radio online. I looked forward to talking to you and the others in the group! :)
Thanks for your invitation, I'll be joining up.
Thanks for the invitation and for the introduction to Radio 3 (and for my very first comment since joining LibraryThing). I generally play my iPod through my computer speakers all day at work but will definitely try streaming Radio 3.
Thanks for the invitation. I'm always looking for another classical station!
Greetings, Antimuzak,

Thanks for the invite to BBC Radio 3 Listeners. I share PatrickFeeble's uncertainty about how the group works and what's involved, but I'm open to finding out. From looking over the comments, it appears that you're single-handedly keeping the BBC in business, and from the size of your collection, it would seem you've keep the entire book publishing industry alive as well. Well done!

Peter
Thank you for recommending this to me. I have added Radio 3 to my favorites and look forward to listening to it.
Well, I have never been in a group before! I'm not quite sure what it entails. But here I am! What now? Thanks for thinking of me.
thank you for your invitation,I would love listen to BBC RADIO 3,hopefuly I will find it. rudik5834
Thank you for the invitation and leading me to the BBC Radio 3. I think I will enjoy it every much. BTW I love your user name.
Thanks so much for the invite to the BBC Radio 3 group. I'll have to check that out. You've got quite a collection here. I must say, Russian literature is among my very favorite so I'll have to check that group out as well. Dostoyevesky is amazing. If you ever want to check out an amusing Dostoyevsky website go to "Dostoyevesky in Space". I have no idea why he is in space...but I'll go along with it. http://www.vex.net/~x/dostport/
Thank-you for your wonderful reviews - it is nice to see someone on LT who has a large volume of reviews that actually impart information beyond 'great book!'. I hope you keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for inviting me! Definitely something I would like and I will be listening often!
Thanks for the invitation and the weblink. I will be tuning in to BBC radio3 often.
thank you so much for inviting me. I just got radio3 on my computer and discovered that i already had windows media player so it worked and I heard a lovely piano sonata. This will be a great pleasure in my life.
Hello Antimuzak
Thank you for inviting me to join the BBC Radio 3 group. I'm very busy entering all my books on the site right now, and as any true music lover, I can't listen to music and do something that requires concentration at the same time, so I'll try later. Besides I'm French, and as you probably know we have a fantastic classical radio station here called France Musique. Here is the link http://www.radiofrance.fr/francemusique/..., you can listen to it online
A bientôt
Nadine
Thanks for the invitation! I've joined up indeed.
Thanks so much for the invite! I'll try anything to do with the BBC...listening and dreaming of jolly ol' England from my cubicle in the American desert! Thanks, again!
Thank you so much for the invitation to listen to BBC Radio 3. I, a shameful Luddite, had never considered the possibility. It turns out that my speakers are not so bad and right now I am happily listening to Schubert.
OK, so I've been listening for a while, and this only affirms my lifelong regret that I was born on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Thanks again!
A rude American thanks you for the invite! I will promptly go find Radio 3... it should augment my daily BBC NewsPod nicely!
Thanks for the invitation.
Thanks for the invite. I joined.
Thank you so much for the invitation. I would never have thought to hunt out BBC Radio 3 on my own. I've got very soothing classical music playing right now while I catch up on email, etc. Much more fitting end to a harried day than something rock & roll.
Thanks for the invitation! I suspect I'll enjoy this a lot! During the day, I listen to music and learn about new music via Pandora (www.pandora.com) - but that's mostly pop and rock. I do love classical and can't wait to listen. Thanks!
thanks for the invite anti-muzak. i love classical music and have a v. big collection of cd's. my broadband here isn't too good so listening online can be a bit frustrating. i miss the proms!!!
Thank you for the invitation, antimuzak. I occasionally stream BBC 3 on the computer and subscribe to BBC Music Magazine for the CD reviews.
Thanks for the invite. Looks promising for univironmental determinists.
Many thanks for the invite, and reminding me of Friends of Radio 3
My computers been down for ages and I had forgotten about it

best
Dobah
Thanks for the invite, my experience of Radio 3 is generally from the podcast but tune in for the drama sometimes but have been trying to tune in more often!
thanks for the invite. cheers!
Thank you for the invite. I have been meaning to shift from just Radio 4 to Radio 3 too.
Thank you for the invitation, looks very inviting.

Radio 3 - how did you know?

Lee
Haven't ever listened to BBC - but will see if we can tune in over the net. Thanks!
Thanks for the invitation to join. I listen to the BBC on my satellite radio. I'm often impressed with their song selections.
Thanks for the invite. I'm not actually a BBC Radio listener, at least not yet. I'm in the US, so i'd have to tune in online; but Isee there are a few other Yanks and Canadians on here. I accept, and will try to listen via the web. I also listen to NPR and the local (but dying fast) classical/arts stations.
Thanks for the invitation. I will check it out.
Thanks for the invite and I'm on board.
Thanks for the invite
Thank you for the invitation. Apologies for the delay in responding, it's been a while since I last logged in.

Thanks

Helen
thank you for the invite. I will get round to reading the topics and members suggestions.
Thank you for inviting me! I lived in England for 4 years and now that I've returned to the US, Radio3 is one of the things I miss the most. Thank goodness I can stream it over the web.

It never occurred to me that I'd find a group on LibraryThing!
Very strange - I was just wondering whether to put on a CD - or listen to the Third Programme - and up came your invite. Can't promise a big input into the discussion pages - but who knows! Best wishes, Peter
Thanks for the message. I've joined the group and will read the topics properly tonight.
Amanda
Thanks for the invite. I have heard of Radio 3, but, living in the US, have never actually heard it: I'll have to change that while I'm at work tomorrow.
Thank you for the invitation! I'm sorry it took so long to respond: I had no idea there were groups and mail here. I have a lot to learn!
Thank you for the invitation. I have listened occasionally to BBC3 and like it very much.

Love your library.

Dave in Duluth
Thanks for inviting me to the BBC Radio 3 Listeners group!
Thank you, Radio 3 has escaped my attention until now. Though my library might not show it (overmuch), I was into classical music for more than 20 yrs (even got some serious money out of it, at times). But then I moved on, i.e., from active performance to listening only---in order to get some different things done in life for a change, LOL! I'll check it out and will get back to you and your offer. ^_^J.
Hey, it seems I'm the last of a very long invitation list :-)
Anyhow, thanks for the invitation, I tend to be more of a Radio 4 listener, but Radio 3 gets its 35% share.
Thanks for the invitation. I listen to BBC 3 (and many classical stations from Europe) over the Internet (and CBC in the car). My spouse has hooked one of our computers up to the stereo system so we can hear every crackle. I'm not sure what there is to discuss, particularly as it relates to our reading collections, but we shall see!
hello, thanks for the invite and I would love to join. I live in Ohio, so I'll try to listen by computer. Wish me luck, as I am to computers as Shakespeare is to welders. bob
Hi

Thanks for the invite. I'm Canadian and usually listen to CBC Radio 2. I haven't listened to BBC Radio 3 although it sounds interesting and I might give it a try via the internet.

Cheers
Thank you for the invitation to BBC Radio 3 listeners.... How did you know that I listen to the BBC? I only listen over the web since I am in the States.
Thank you for sending me to the site! I'm pleased you thought of me. Esta1923
Thank you for the invite to the Radio group, when I saw your name I recalled that you had submitted the image of Alfred Schnittke, so I knew that i would be interested ;--)
Thanks for the invite to join the Radio 3 group. I'm pleased to accept but I generally listen to Radio 4 as I'm less often in the mood for serious music listening. I currently sometimes catch some of "Night Waves" but I will promise to make a conscious effort to tune in to 3 more frequently. I share you abhorrence of muzak in public places. How anyone can actually shop in HMV or Virgin stores is beyond me. The cacophony makes rational thought, let alone contemplation, well nigh an impossibility. I'd be interested in your recommendations for contemporary classical music.
Thanks, Kevin (dylanwolf).
p.s. nomuzak.co.uk is one impressive polemic!
Thanks for the invitation to join the BBC Radio 3 group - regrettably I don't listen to it as I live in Canada. I guess I could listen on the 'net but I never have. I do listen to CBC Radio 2 which is as close to BBC3 as you can get around here :)
Thanks for the invitation. Done!
Thank you. I did find them via the group page and I'm very much enjoying the new series, At the Piano. I enjoy listening to great pianists almost as dearly as I enjoy playing and this show is a treasure. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the invitation. I've never listened to BBC3; I'd try to tune in via the Internet, but since I'm still using dial-up (!!) at home in New York, I don't know how well that would work out. I wouldn't be likely to have much of benefit to add comment-wise in any case, but I will definitely take a look around.

Thanks again--

Instigatrix
Thanks for the invitation. I shall try it out.
Thank you for the invitation, antimuzak. Should be taking home a new laptop soon so I'll see if I can tune into Radio 3 via the internet. Looking forward to checking out the forums as well.

Sean
Thank you so much for the invitation. I have never listened to radio 3, but will try on the internet (I'm in Connecticut). I don't know how I'll be at commenting but am pleased you invited me.
Sorry for delay in replying - I`ve been very busy lately and only look at LT every so often to check my messages and do the odd very hurried posting.

I haven`t listened to R3 for quite a while - your message has prompted me to take that interest up again ! I will start listening again, then possibly join your group at a later date when I feel I have something to contribute.

I see you are from N E England - my wife and I went to see Viva (formerly the East of England Orchestra) on New Year`s Eve - very enjoyable !

All the Best

Nick
Thanks for the invitation - I haven't listened to BBC3 before, but will check it out on the internet (I live in Canada).
Thank you for the invite. I am a complete novice in classical music, Beethoven excepted with the odd opera thrown in. I have moved my radio dial to R3 and have started listening.
Thanks for the invite. I think I will love it.
Antimuzak, (great name) Thanks for the invite, however,I'm able to access BBC3 only via the internet. I also tune in some excellent classical radio out of Toronto ;-)
Thank you for the invitiation. How did you know I might be interested?. I listen mostly via internet.
Many thanks for the invite to the R3 listeners group - unfortunately I only listen to the radio in the car, and my car stereo is broken, so the sound of silence is all I get at the moment! I've not really listened to R3 before, but I'll keep an eye (ear) out for it when I eventually get my car fixed.

Best wishes and thanks for the thought.
I am not the best at commenting but am thrilled to be invited!
Hi and thank you for the invite. I don't have any way to listen at home, though my voice teacher subscribes to several European Classical stations via his computer/stereo system and I may have listened there. He doesn't recommend my local classical station, sadly American, small city stations seem to have limited, "commercially viable" libraries of recordings, but sometimes I can tune into the Toronto Station across the lake which is excellent.

If there is a free online broadcast please send me the address, I can listen while I'm on LibraryThing. Thanks for thinking of me an introducing me to another great venue for music.

~Cckelly
The problem for me with Radio 3 is that it does not play though Itunes, which means that I cannot listeen to it on my stereo. The same is truee with Danmarks Radio's classical station, which is also great.I am going to try Radio 3 while am on my computer, though.
Thank you for the information. I use Apple's Airport Express and an outboard digital-analog converter to put my internet radio through my stereo system. I have found Minnesota Public Radio's classical station to be much better than the average public radio's war horse parade.
Hello

Thanks for the invite - would love to join
Hi

Many thanks for the invitation to join the BBC Radio 3 Listeners group. I am an avid listener, having the station on most of the day and often in the evenings.

Benjamin
Thanks for asking. Have very little time for anything these days but I shall endeavor to lurk about in the background as time allows.
Thank you for the invitation.
