Rólam I am a retired bureaucrat and a transcendentalist unitarian.

You can go for a walk with some of us.

I got up early this morning in order to clip my nails; now I need a Pepsi to stay awake.

Between the Tropics there are times when you can stand on the shadow of your head.

If we filled the universe with water, would the water put out the stars, or would the stars put out the water?

If we weighed as much as a star would we feel differently about the universe?

I bummed a ride back from Iapetus on a rocket powered, of all things, space ship, and it took forever to get here.

If I see far, it is because I stand on the shoulders of fish.

If we park all the spaceships off the coast of France in the Mediterranean we may cause maneuvering problems for the yachts.

The reason I prefer to nap on a waterbed rather than in a swimming pool is that I don't have to worry about keeping my nose out of the water.

What I like about radio is that I can watch it with my eyes closed.

I have two different visitors' maps. Thank heavens I don't have to trust either of them.

I have started a private group called "12 Steps" for those of us following that program. To get to it, you can search for it on the Groups page, click on it here, or click on it in my Groups above. If Library Thing requires that you have an invitation to join and you want to, leave me a private comment below.

A könyvtáramról It is unwieldy. So after making a lot of smoke out of the starting gate, I have slowed way down; perhaps a quarter of my books are here. None of the books I've had a long time and are upstairs in back will get here for some time. As I get new books, however, I catalogue them immediately.

On line book vendors that I have found useful:
Barny Noble's my default new book source
Edward R Hamilton for remainders and some new books
AbeBooks for used books; part owner of LibraryThing
Christian Book Distributors for Christian books and some Jewish books
Liberty Fund for solid, historical books on liberty; fulfillment is by the University of Chicago Press
Oxford University Press, U.S.A. as a vendor best when there are specials; sometimes difficult web site

Thanks a bunch for your post! I checked your code and you simply inserted the HTML version of statcounter, which is pretty much useless except as a basic counter since the javascript version with all the cool features can't be loaded on LT at this time. I inserted the same code for my tracking, but intend to change it in the near future.

You also might want to use ClustrMaps as a map tool; I am using it on my blog at http://antiquebooks.typepad.com and am very happy with it so far.

Did you know your two map counters on your profile page don't count the same visitors?

Cheers-

Here are names of some opera DVDs that we have and replay often. (Since I don't know how to type I've done it this way, and hope you can sort it out!) We buy thru Amazon. They stand behind their suppliers.

*Rossini : “La Cenerentola” w/Cecilia Bartoli; “L’italiani in Algeria” w/Marilyn Horne; “Il Turco in Italia” w/Bartoli. *Mozart: “Don Giovanni” w/Bryn Terfel; “Cosi fan Tutti” Barenboim conductor. “La Nozze di Figaro” (from Glyndbourne, as is *Handel: “Giulio Cesare”). *Prokoviev: “Betrothal in a Monastery” w/ Anna Netrebko;*Verdi” La Traviata w/Anna Netrebko *Tchaikovsy: “Eugene Onegin”w/Renee Fleming. *Verdi ”Falstaff” w/Byrn Terfel
