An other blast from the past. Martin Padway is visiting Rome, and is whisked back to 535 A.D.. Where he introduces brandy, modern book keeping, printing presses and movable type, news papers and manages to save the world the 1000 years time called the Dark Ages. The story often humorous and brings to mind A 'Connecticut Yankee' in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain. Just enjoyable and fun to read. ( )

A modern archaeologist is hit by lightning in a ruined building in Rome and sent back to the early days of the Empire. Using his knowledge he attempts to alter the course of history, Lest Darkness Fall. I liked and still like this book. ( )

Historically based SF in which the hero tries to circumvent the fall of Rome. Very enjoyable. ( )

Lest Darkness Fall is at times light and entertaining book with a touch of the 'Connecticut Yankee' thing going on.

A history professor ends up back in ancient Rome, and soon sets about using his knowledge to give people advice and hence build himself a power base. He gains influence, women, military strength, etc., while trying to help stave off the fall of the Roman Empire. Quite enjoyable.
