Loading... White Rat: A Life in Baseballírta: Whitey Herzog
Whitey Herzog, former manager for the St. Louis Cardinals (and other teams), who got them a World Series win in 1982 and to the Series in 1985 and 1987, is one of the most intelligent and innovative baseball minds around. He is also an old-fashioned straight-from-the-shoulder type of guy, and a colorful and interesting baseball writer. This book is a biography and something of a primer on how to play baseball as it should be. A little self-serving, but probably deservedly so, the book also impresses me with how prescient Herzog was in many ways in 1986 when he wrote this book. ( ) |
