selkie_girl - I enjoyed The Red Necklace, it certainly stays creepy and adventurous! I have the sequel The Silver Blade on my TBR pile.
I just finished reading Evermore by Alyson Noel, and being pretty annoyed at Damen - which was fine because Ever had a perfectly healthy 'you're creepy' ... ... or she'll go insane like her mother, her grandmother and so on. It was very interesting book.
Currently listening to The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner, a noble's daughter and a gypsy boy cross paths during the Reign of Terror. It's so good so far, an evil villain, magic, love, adventure, ... ... of the Book - but I can't say much because there's still one week left to go in the group read. Loved it though!
The Necklace by Cheryl Jarvis - interesting true story about 13 women who go in together to buy a diamond necklace, which becomes MUCH more to them than co-ownership of ... ... of the Book, which I LOVED. My first Geraldine Brooks and now I can't wait to read Year of Wonders.

The Silver Blade is already available here, in fact my library got it a while back but I had to wait for The Red Necklace as it is quite popular. Everything has to wait though at present as I'm determined to finish my 999 challenge reads - I have 18 left from 81 books. Shirley Jackson is fabulous! Have you read The Haunting of Hill House yet? So incredibly creepy!

So was it good? ... I picked up The Silver Blade, the second in a series of YA fantasy set during the French Revolution. The first book, The Red Necklace, was great. So I'm hoping for more of the same from this one! ... in order to have a run at her work later in the year. Looks like I'll have to start with Strangers on a train.
I have The Red Necklace home from the library at present, I've enjoyed all of Sally Gardner's books. I've read all the Darren Shan vampire books and loved the initial ones, ... ... but I think to enjoy something like this it really has to be right up your alley and this just wasn't for me.

All of which are very good. Sovay and Red Necklace are set during the french revolution. I've fixed the touchstone - Impossible is by Nancy Werlin.
Forgot to add that Sally Gardner's The Red Necklace has been on my tbr list for a while. The sequel has just come ou in the UK - The Silver Blade. I really liked her I, Coriander and her adorable picturebook The Fairy Catalogue. ... Cures by Vincent Lam
